“I understand why you’re a little bit subdued today, I understand why you’re a little bit subdued today, because you’ve opened a political movement on the backs of misery and failure in the economy. But the country isn’t failing, the country is growing again and it’s growing very strongly. Now I’ve noticed, I‘ve noticed in this morning’s paper you’ve stated you have another red line issue. First you’re going to abolish property tax, now you’re going to abolish water charges and these are red line issues. Nobody is rushing to join you in government. Putting down a red line issue, it’s like an oul’ fellow walking up and down the boundaries of the Ballroom of Romance saying that he won’t dance with any of those women over there. Nobody wants, nobody wants to dance with him. Nobody wants to dance with him, that’s the position. So red lines, red lines, red lines, you’re joking me.”

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan drawing a wistful analogy for Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn in the Dáil this afternoon.

Isn’t it well for them?

A tyke trembles at the door of the ‘controversial’  salon of shame this afternoon.

Paul writes:

“So this (above) just opened at the junction of Summerhill and Ballybough, Dublin 100 meters from where said sisters dumped the headless body while eating breakfast rolls and taking yokes with their Ma…”

Meanwhile….

“Miriam Murphy says she chose the name without knowing about the salon’s proximity to the murder scene. She said: “Me and my sister are both hair dressers, so we used the name for that reason. “I wasn’t aware at the beginning when I had made the name, to be honest, but then I was told but I’m keeping the name anyway.”

What you may need to know:

1. It’s an action drama set in New York City during the winter of 1981. The film follows the lives of an immigrant and his family whose business keeps running into corruption and violence.

2. 1981 was the most violent year in New York City history with 637,451 reported felonies that year. 19,475 1,832 of those were murders.

3. Oscar Isaac replaced Javier Bardem in the lead after Bardem and the film’s director J.C Chandor fell out over the “direction of the script”. The film was also still without finance at that point.

4. This is Chandor’s own script and he really impressed with his two previous productions, Margin Call (2011) and All Is Lost (2013). “Elegant and handsome” Jeremy Irons is a most impressive bastard in Margin Call.

5. Co-star Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac were classmates in Julliard, the School for Performing arts in New York.

6. The film sneaks in just ahead of the Oscars deadline which is midnight on December 31. Aye Aye!

7. Broadsheet Prognosis: Escape from…Escape From New York (1981)

St Michael’s Church, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.

Unless it is the jubilee of a Ruby Jubilee which took place last year? Although strictly speaking that would make it the anniversary of the jubilee.

Or have they simply taken leave of their senses?

We may never know.
