The Women’s Centre on Berkeley Street, Inns Quay, Dublin

Re (al) Productive Health writes:

In February 2014, we held a picket outside the anti-choice counselling office on Berkeley Road to oppose the intimidation and lies the ‘clinic’ promoted and its location beside a Marie Stopes service.

A report this morning from Ellen Coyne and Catherine Sanz [in The Times Ireland edition] has revealed that the service advises that abortions ’cause breast cancer and can turn women into child abusers’.

This service tells women lies, intimidates and cooercives their choices and is directly linked to Catholic anti-abortion groups.

We deserve better than this, we deserve to be given factual, non-judgemental information and to be supported in accessing safe and free reproductive choices along the spectrum.

Please join us to protest against this service and insist that dangerous, unregulated services such as this are closed.

“Stephen Donnelly T.D. has informed us that he is leaving the Social Democrats.

We are disappointed that he has decided to walk away from the project, we undertook, to establish and build the Party.

The Executive Committee of the Party has reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of a strong economy, fair society and honest politics.

We are fully committed to the project and will endeavour to develop the Party into an exciting force for change in Irish Politics.

As is the case across the globe the defence of social democratic values is not dependent on one personality or politician – but rather is a collective pursuit.

Since the Social Democrats were first founded, in July 2015, we have worked to build the party brick-by-brick. This is a long term project which requires dedication, hard work, long hours and a major commitment from all involved including our elected representatives.

The levels of dedication required for such a major undertaking can be overwhelming for some.

However our elected Councillors, our staff team and our volunteers are passionate about our project and we will now get on with the job of building our party.

We wish Stephen the best in his future endeavours and look forward, with excitement, to the future development of the Social Democrats.”

Danny Deeporeleases new album ‘Sounds from a Living Planet’

What you may need to know…

01. Limrock-resident turntablist and sonic explorer Danny Deepo released new full-length Sounds from a Living Planet last week via Bandcamp.

02. One of the foundations of Irish skratch and general weirdo beats, he co-founded the Galway Community Skratch Games along with Deviant, Jimmy Penguin and Mikey Fingers, then all collaborating as Vince MackMahon.

03. He’s manipulated decks for a number of groupings and bands, but has been exceptionally busy as a solo producer in recent years, with two albums and an E.P. to his name since the beginning of 2015.

04. Sounds from a Living Planet is streaming above in its entirety and available for download in the widget above.

VERDICT: Drawing samples and sounds from all over the world, and melding them via sampling and turntablism, Danny Deepo’s expositions journey from beats into psychedelia and experimentation.
